Gati Shakti to enable logistics efficiency

Prime Minister Gati Shakti National Master Plan indicates the first initiative on the path to enabling efficient coordination and monitoring, integrated infrastructure planning and reducing time along with cost overruns in the project execution. The capital expenditure (CapEx) has been raised from Rs 2.5 tn in 2013-14 to Rs 7.5 tn in 2022-23 by the central government. The government has further increased its investment in infrastructure sectors like railways, waterways, national highways, civil aviation, gas grid, optical fibre and renewable energy. The state governments have been awarded Rs 1 tn in the FY 2022-23 for the infrastructure development within the Gati Shakti Plan. The Prime Minister has also stated that the logistics cost in India needs to be reduced from the current situation showcasing 13-14 per cent of GDP. This requires coordinated action among the government and private sector.
