Highway construction in India increases 25 per cent in Q1 FY22

Construction of highways in India witnessed a 25 per cent increase in the first quarter of the current fiscal to 2,284 km at 25.37 km per day. In the April-June period of 2019-20, highway construction was 23.29 km per day. The construction speed registered in the first three months of the 
current fiscal reportedly was even higher than before. The highest record accomplished in FY 2020-21 was 34.4 km per day. However, the construction pace in the first three months in the current fiscal is way behind as compared to 2020-21 fiscal.
