India, Nepal launch construction of third Integrated Check-Post

01 Dec 2020

India and Nepal have launched the construction of the third Integrated Check-Post (ICP) between the two countries at Nepalgunj. Nepal has handed over an unencumbered 90.80 bigha (61.50 hectares) of land at Nepalgunj near the border, along with 24.36 bigha of land for the approach road. The ground breaking ceremony was held in November, and the ICP is expected to come up in 24 months at an estimated cost of Rs.1925.4 mn. Realising the constraints of existing facilities India and Nepal agreed in 2005 to develop integrated check-posts at the authorised border crossings between the two countries. Two other ICPs have been constructed since then.
