MDOs to develop seven Coal India projects

01 Jan 2023

Coal India (CIL) has given instructions for the development of seven coal projects by mine developers and operators (MDOs). CIL is engaging MDOs through open worldwide auctions to enhance domestic coal output and minimise dependency on imports. Letters of acceptance have reportedly been issued. Three of these seven projects are owned by Central Coalfields (CCL), and two are owned by Mahanadi Coalfields (MCL), both subsidiaries of CIL. South Eastern Coalfields and Eastern Coalfields each have a single project as well. CIL will invest Rs 206 billion in land acquisition, rehabilitation, resettlement, and railway sidings in special cases.
