NHAI plans Rs.14.17 bn investment for highway development

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has planned infrastructure development activities worth Rs.14.17 bn in Punjab for the current financial year. The yearly plan would cover a 295-km network of National Highways. NHAI has offered to fund four-laning of National Highways, land purchases, development of bypasses and bridges. Of the total fund of Rs.14.17 bn, Rs.4.61 bn will be used on the widening of NHs. The south Malwa region will receive a major share of Rs.7.4 bn. A budget of Rs.1422.3 mn is allocated for land procurement and preconstruction activities of NH-254 (that links Punjab with Haryana) from Kangar village to Rampura Phul in Bathinda district. Also, Rs.1.4 bn will be used on widening and two-laning of 29 km of NH-354 from Muktsar bypass to Malout.
