The Centre has called the state authorities to acquire imported coal in order to conceal its own inefficiencies in delivering local dry fuel to thermal plants, as per reports. The power ministry's directives to generating firms are pushing states to enhance blending to augment local coal and compensate for Coal India's limited supply of dry fuel. The ministry has also directed that all imported coal-fired power plants operate at full capacity, and that an upward tariff revision would be made by a committee.
