Rs.1000 mn okayed for Hyderabad’s Osmansagar facelift

01 Dec 2020

By next year, the Osmansagar lake, which completed 100 years this year and is popularly known as Gandipet, could become an important tourist destination in the city. The man-made lake, around 20-km from the city, was constructed in 1920, and in commemoration, the state government has sanctioned Rs.1000 million for its beautification—a project which was stuck for many years. The project aims to once again turn the lake into a holiday spot on the lines of Durgam Cheruvu and Lumbini Park. The HMDA, which is the implementing agency, has taken over a garden located 200-m from the reservoir’s main gate, and it will be developed on the lines of NTR garden.
