Announcing its commitment for housing for all by 2022, the government has launched consultations with various stake-holders and chief ministers to come out with a comprehensive policy on housing. The PPP model will be adopted for the task in association with the developer community. Moreover, various schemes like JNNURM, Indira Awas Yojana and Rajiv Run Yojana will be merged into a single scheme. The government will also focus on rental housing, rainwater harvesting and solar power. Also, permissions for projects up to 40 hectare will now be given at state and city levels.
