TN to spend Rs 340 cr on new housing units

Tamil Nadu Housing Board plans to construct 2,427 housing units at a cost of around Rs 340 crore. As a part of the plan, the board will develop 723 flats at Chennai, 16 at Salem and 566 at various other parts of the state.

It would also develop 1,122 plots in Kancheepuram, Virudhunagar, Madurai, and Ramanathapuram. The board would demolish 119 of its rental quarters constructed in 1959 in CIT Nagar, Nandanam, Chennai which are in dilapidated condition and construct 474 flats at a cost of Rs 77.70 crore (excluding the value of the land). It will also construct
100 new houses in Thanjavur at a cost of Rs 20.85 crore.
