01 May 2022

Tamil Nadu’s health minister Ma Subramanian has planned to meet with Central health minister Mansukh Mandaviya in Delhi to urge him to speed up the construction of the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) buildings. The first announcement about the establishment of AIIMS in Tamil Nadu was made in 2015, and Prime Minister Modi had laid the foundation stone for the medical college in 2019. Additionally, Subramanian will be urging the federal government to approve six more medical colleges in the state, one for each of the newly formed districts of Perambalur, Mayiladuthurai, Tirupathur, Ranipet, Kancheepuram, and Kallakurichi. The minister has previously inspected mobile medical vans that the state intends to introduce soon. The state will send out 389 vans, each of which will run at least 40 medical camps in a single day.
