India’s largest cement manufacturer Ultratech Cement has lined up investments of Rs.15 bn in FY2021 in multiple initiatives, said its Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla as reported. Further, the company is also reportedly targeting to increase its annual capacity to 118 mn tonne from 114.8 mn tonne currently.
The Board of Birla Corporation, at a recent meeting, reportedly approved a proposal to expand the existing capacity of its grinding cement plant at Durgapur by installing a cement grinding unit, ie, one cement mill (VRM) with cement capacity of 0.24 mn tonne per annum.
Domestic cement production has fallen by 38.3 per cent during the first quarter of FY2021 as compared with the 16.3 per cent and 1 per cent growth in production achieved during Q1 FY2019 and Q1 FY2020.
JK Cement’s capital and financial resources are expected to remain entirely protected in spite of the adverse impact on its sales due to the COVID-19 lockdown. Lower sales would impact the profitability of the company in the current financial year.

NHAI has invited applications from private players for three packages for the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway project. The three packages under Sohna-Mumbai expressway include a 58-km stretch that passes through Delhi.
Indian Railways will build nearly 4,000 km of the dedicated freight corridors connecting industrial areas in the eastern and western parts of the country to southern India through the ports in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, a document on the planned corridors says. The Uttarakhand Government has announced the construction of the state’s first international airport in Pantnagar. This is expected to boost tourism in the state. With the opening of the international airport, large passenger aircraft would also be also to operate from there.

NHAI will soon approve 1,500 km of highway projects in the coastal regions of the country to improve coastal connectivity as it moves forward on four-laning of roads in the coastal region.
Twenty-three new highways, including a network of expressways and economic corridors, will be ready by March 2025, according to the NHAI. While four expressways, including Delhi-Mumbai, Ahmedabad-Dholera and Amritsar-Jamnagar, are scheduled for completion by March 2023, nine more will be ready by March 2024.
The NHAI is preparing to launch a massive plan to build 22 expressways with an investment of `3.3 tn. It has also decided to form SPVs to meet this fund requirement.The first SPV will be for the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) has invited online bids for marketing and financial consultants for the commercial development of railway land of 89,032 sq m at Salt Golah, Howrah in West Bengal. RLDA is hoping to generate an investment of up to Rs.8 bn crore from the site.
The South Western Railway has commissioned the development of Lachyan-Hotgi section, which is 33 km long, as part of the doubling project from Hotgi-Kudgi-Gadag (284 km) which had been sanctioned by the Railway Board in 2014-15.
