The administration and Municipal Corporation (MC) officials in Jalandhar have been reportedly instructed by Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, the Union Minister of State for Rural Development, to get the smart city initiative on track soon. She has also vowed to look into the inconsistencies alleged in the Jalandhar Smart City project. During her stay in the city, she reportedly paid a visit to the smart city project sites and discussed the smart city and other projects in a meeting with district administrators and authorities. The minister frequently questioned how the money was being used while she was there.
