APSEZ calls off deal to build greenfield port at Bhavanapadu

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has reportedly called off a deal to build a greenfield port at Bhavanapadu in the Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh after it bought Krishnapatnam Port for Rs.135 bn in January. APSEZ had won the contract to develop a new port at Bhavanapaduin an auction in January 2018. As reported, the deal was cancelled by mutual consent in March over issues related to land acquisition, etc. The state government has now sought bids for a PMC firm to develop the new port on a landlord model, where the state will finance basic infrastructure of the port such as dredging, reclamation, breakwater and land acquisition, and outsource operations to private firms.
