Govt to set up NHSRA to run high-speed trains

01 Feb 2012

The Railways has decided to set up a National High-Speed Rail Authority (NHSRA) to expedite a high-speed train project, which is likely to be introduced in the country soon. A draft bill in this connection is likely to be moved in the Parliament. Since high-speed trains would run at the maximum speed of 300 km per hour, the Railways intend to set up this autonomous body to implement and monitor the project. NHSRA will have nine members, including a chairman and eight members with four full-time members for project, finance, engineering and planning.
