Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) will invite request for qualifications (RFQs) for the second liquid bulk terminal with a total capacity of 7.5 mn tonne and at an investment of around Rs 3,000 crore. The enabling infrastructure is being set up as a 14-m draught, to be dredged further to 15 m and include jetty, pipelines and loading and unloading facilities. This will enable vessels of up to 6,000 20-ft equivalent units (TEUs) to come to the terminal. JNPT is also expanding on the container capacity front with two new terminals expected to start operations in the next two quarters.
