SAIL recently announced its plan to form a joint venture with RITES for setting up a wagon unit at Kulti in West Bengal. The Ministry of Railways has acquired two wagon manufacturing PSUs, Burn Standard and Braith-waite, from the Ministry of Heavy Industries and loaded them with orders. The total capacity in the country is estimated at 18,000 wagons annually.
