TNMB to develop Colachel Port

The Tamil Nadu Maritime Board (TNMB) wants to develop the Colachel Port into a major port. It has initiated the process by asking iMaritime Consultants, Mumbai, to prepare a techno-economic feasibility report on the development of the project. Colachel is close to the international shipping route and it has sufficient draught to attract large ships. RITES Ltd in its 'Port Vision 2020' report had identified Colachel as ideal for developing into a container transhipment hub port.
