The Uttar Pradesh Government has okayed the detailed project reports (DPRs) for metro rail projects in four major cities - Kanpur, Meerut, Agra and Varanasi. Work on these ambitious projects is expected to kickstart by 2015 while work on the first phase of the Lucknow Metro Rail is already underway and will be completed by December 2016.
