Andhra Pradesh to have 26 new highway roads

01 Oct 2020

Andhra Pradesh will have 26 newly developed and rebuilt National Highway roads on a 1,412-km stretch at a cost of Rs.155.92 bn. Some of the roads are in key cities like Visakhapatnam, which is going to emerge as the state’s executive capital, and Vijayawada. The six-lane project between Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam is a boon to north coastal Andhra Pradesh. Development of four-lane and six-lane roads, construction of flyovers, laying of by-pass roads, etc, are part of these projects, which are completely funded by the Union Government. The state government is supporting the projects by providing the required land. Nearly 38 per cent of the projects have been completed and are set to be operational
by the middle of October. The remaining 62 per cent of the projects will be completed by the end of 2022.
