Gujarat plans fresh bids for Nargol port after contractor bows out

The Gujarat government is weighing the option of inviting fresh bids for developing Nargol port after the Gujarat Maritime Board cancelled the work awarded to Cargo Motors. A consortium of Cargo Motors and Israel Ports Co was selected as the developer for Nargol port in August 2012. Israel Ports soon backed out from the project, and the development of the port has been stuck for quite some time, as Cargo Motors was unable to build the port in the stipulated time. The Maritime Board terminated the LOI awarded to the company last year, and is now exploring the option of inviting fresh bids.
