The GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL) management has saved Rs.100 mn in the last year after it deployed solar power for airport operations. GHIAL owns solar power capacities totalling 10 MW. It had commissioned a 5 MW solar power plant for captive use, and in 2021, expanded capacity to 10 MW. The facility is built over 45 acre and has over 30,000 solar power panels in place. The solar facility is fitted with ABB central inverters and polycrystalline PV panels, and aims to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
