India Railways records highest electrification of sections in 2020-21

Indian Railways exceeded the earlier highest electrifications of 5,276 route km and achieved the highest ever electrification of sections, covering 6,015 route km in 2020-21. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the national transporter registered the electrification of sections across the Indian Railways network in FY21. End-to-end connectivity was provided on many important railway routes by electrification of missing links accompanying the first time Indian Railway's connectivity to the north-east part of the country. By December 2023, the national transporter has planned to fully electrify its rail tracks.
