A long-discussed Indian project will be constructing a new container terminal in Tuna Tekra, about 15 miles from the Kandla Port, now known as the Deendayal Port Authority, has been given fresh life. The latter is a significant west coast shipping gateway that is owned by the government. Prior attempts to build a container terminal on the same site failed due to investors' lack of interest, and the lacking infrastructure for container handling. The port authority intends to build two massive cargo-handling facilities soon.
