PMGSY-III road scheme launched in Himachal Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently launched the rural road scheme, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-III, in Himachal Pradesh, and has called for the upgradation of 3,125 km of rural roads. Over Rs 4.20 billion has been sanctioned under this phase of the PMGSY-III for upgrading 440 km of rural roads in 15 border and far-flung blocks of the state. In the past eight years, the government has made 12,000 km of roads in Himachal Pradesh, Modi reportedly said as he laid the foundation stones of two hydroelectric projects: the 48 MW Chanju-III project and the 30 MW Deothal Chanju project.
