A new bridge connecting Nariman Point and Colaba has been proposed to Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), with a motive to reduce traffic congestion and ease travel for motorists. RA Rajeev, the Metropolitan Commissioner MMRDA, has been appointed as the Project Management Consultant for this project. The estimated length of the new bridge is about 1.6 km. The project is expected to be completed within four months from the date of approval. RA Rajeev stated that the project would not affect the existing livelihood of the fishermen and their boats will also not be obstructed during the construction.
