Turnkey contracts by CIL

In 2013-14, Coal India (CIL) plans to award two to three large turnkey contracts to private players for extracting coal, removing over burden and supplying the coal till the loading point. Under these contracts, the contractors will be responsible for overburden removal, coal extraction, washing and grading as well as supplying it to the loading point. These projects will produce about 4-5 mn tonne to begin with and will have a contract period over 10-12 years after they start producing.
