CAG report casts doubt on Mah govt power target
Maharashtra's promise to stop load shedding by 2012 may remain only on paper due to improper planning to tide over the 5,000 MW power deficit. Moreover, the electricity generated by a number of its thermal power plants also falls short on various environment parameters. The performance audit on power generation activities in Maharashtra State Power Generation Company concluded that online monitoring equipment for pollution checks was not installed at 22 out of the 34 thermal units in the state.
