Greenko gets nod for 650 MW wind projects

Greenko Group has received the clearance to develop wind farms in the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Rajasthan, with a total installed capacity of 650 MW. It recently secured permission to set up 300 MW of this in Karnataka and plans to set up 100 MW in a wind energy generation unit, with phase I to be completed by December 2012. It has also entered into a power purchase agreement with the Karnataka government. The company, which has its base in Hyderabad and is listed in AIM in the UK, has struck a partnership deal with General Electric Co (GE) to execute the wind energy projects, which entail supply, installation and maintenance of 1.6 MW turbines.
