More and more projects involving formwork are now using AWPs

- Souma Ray, Director, Haulotte India
More priority being given to infrastructure ramp up in India - Smart Cities, new airports, etc - entails more formwork, which in turn requires the use of scaffolding, Aerial Work Platforms (AWPs) and telehandlers for safe and timely completion of projects. Souma Ray, Director, Haulotte India, shares more on the market and the company's offerings...

How do you view this segment as a demand driver for your offerings?
Scaffolding is a manual system of erection of a platform or series of integrated platforms to work at heights. In case the work is only restricted on a particular elevation, formwork is a good option. However, a scaffolding has to be dismantled and re-erected again if the location is changed. Hence, considerable amount of time is spent. That is where using AWPs and telehandlers are advantageous. More and more projects involving formwork are now using AWPs as it greatly increases productivity and timeliness.

Tell us about AWPs and telehandlers offered by Haulotte.

What is the USP of your equipment?
Here are the standard safety features that you would find on Haulotte machines, which conform to the CE EN280 standards for safety requirements for AWPs:
Overload System (cuts off function from platform when the machine platform is overloaded).
Tilt Cut-off System (cuts specific functions of the machine which assist in increasing horizontal reach of the machine when the entire machine slope has exceeded the permissible limit).
Radius Limitation (cuts off movement for the machine if it exceeds its designed reach radius).
Back up emergency system (present on the lower control box can be activated in a scenario where the operator on the upper control box in incapacitated to bring the operator down safely).
The additional safety feature for our AWPs is an Anti Entrapment System from operators on platform - Active Shield Bar (ASB) û patented by us. This is a secondary guarding system for the machines, which activates when the operator is trapped in a crushing situation.
