Under Sanjiv Aggarwal, Partner Energy Asia, Actis, the global private equity fund’s renewable energy arm Sprng Energy has acquired 194 MW of the 400 MW of Shapoorji Pallonji group’s solar assets for a value of $200 million. Following the acquisition, Sprng has a 1.65 GW portfolio, of which 1.45 GW is under various stages of construction. Further, with Aggarwal’s vision, Actis is reportedly planning to grow Sprng Energy to 2 GW. That said, the company has known to have committed $2.1 billion to India; it has been operating in the energy, financial services and real estate sectors. With $10 billion worth projects under construction in growth markets, and with Aggarwal’s expertise, the company seems game for bigger acquisitions.
