With 50 per cent completed in terms of civil and electrical work, almost 800 km of the Dedicated Rail Freight Corridor (DFC) is set to open in the current financial year, while the remaining 1,500 km will be commissioned next financial year. The 300-km stretch of the Western DFC between Rewari (Haryana) and Madar (Rajasthan) is expected to be completed by December end. As against its previous plan to open the Rs 814.5-bn network at a go, the railways has decided to open it in phases.
