CHB to spend Rs 2.11 cr to renovate rental houses of its employees

The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has decided to pay Rs 2.11 crore to renovate homes given on rent to its employees across the city.

An Agenda will come up in this regard for discussion and permission of the board in its meeting on September 8.

The Agenda said that the rental homes of CHB employees were built a long ago with specifications accepted at that time. The flooring has been damaged over time. The allottees have asked for the replacement of significant items without charging extra payment from them. Thus, a rough price estimate has been prepared.

CHB records display that these homes are in a few sectors, Indira Colony, Dhanas, Manimajra and Industrial Area. The estimate has been consolidated by the office of public health, civil and electrical. Most of the work is in the civic category.

The work will be done by following the specifications for various types of government houses and the CPWD after floating tenders.

The work will take 12 months to complete. The funds shall be provided by the CHB from its own resources and expenditure charged to the head of the special repair of rental homes.
