Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister, Haryana has recently launched India's first ever elevated railway track in Rohtak. The elevated line on the Rohtak-Gohana stretch will be constructed by eliminating five busy level crossings, and will link the residential colonies of the region. The elevated railway track will be constructed adjoining two existing alignments leaving a 12 m wide strip for the construction of the road. The project aimed to diminish the major problem of traffic jams across Rohtak and is estimated to be constructed at Rs 3.15 billion. Of the total amount, Rs 0.90 billion will be contributed by the Indian Railways with the rest of the amount coming from the State Government of Haryana. That said, the project is expected to be completed in the next 18 months.
