Telangana to raise Rs 10 billion through GHMC bonds

The Telangana Government has taken steps to raise a sum of Rs 10 billion by issuing bonds through Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), which will be utilised only for the development of the city. As reported, a sum of Rs 2 billion was already raised and utilised for Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP), to construct skyways, develop major corridors, roads, grade separators in order to to ease traffic congestion with an aim to increase the average speed of vehicles in the city.

As reported, as part of SRDP in the city, various development works worth Rs 30 billion are under various stages of execution. Projects such as development of the stretch between Nehru Zoological Park and Aramgarh is being carried out at Rs 6 billion, while the Jubilee Hills development is at Rs 3.33 billion.

Once completed, the SRDP will help minimise the travel time in the city and reduce the air pollution levels by minimising the fuel consumption.
