Gautam Adani-led Adani Ports has scooped up the strategic Dhamra port on the east coast of India for an enterprise value of Rs 5,500 crore. The company signed a definitive agreement to buy the port from a 50:50 JV of Tata Steel and Larsen & Toubro, on a day when Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party won a massive mandate in the general elections.
With the new government in place, infrastructure creation in the form of modernisation of existing airports and development of low-cost airports to promote air connectivity, is expected to get a boost. This may include awarding management contracts at six major airports to private sector players
National Democratic Alliance government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) might restructure several ministries, including key infrastructure ones. The new government has on the table long-term proposals to bring several infrastructure ministries under one head, to ease governance. The government is considering plans to revamp existing structures.
