6.BCPL to commission project by Dec 2013

The Assam Gas Cracker Project by Brahmaputra Cracker & Polymer (BCPL) is on track and may be commissioned by December 2013. The project cost has been revised to Rs 9,285 crore from Rs 5,460 crore because of time over-run, technology and design change, rising construction costs, etc. The petro-chemical project is expected to produce 220,000 tonne of TPA ethylene and 60,000 tonne of propylene, 60,000 tonne of polypropylene, 55,000 tonne of raw gasoline and 12,500 tonne of fuel oil annually.


7.Govt to develop national waterways

The Union Government has undertaken the development and regulation of the waterways including the Ganga-Bhagirathi-Hooghly river system in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal as NW-1; River Brahmaputra in the state of Assam as NW-2; West Coast Canal along with Udyogmandal and Champakara Canals - (205 km) in the state of Kerala as NW-3; etc.


8.Shristinagar Township in Guwahati

Shristi Housing has plans to develop North East India´s first private sector-integrated township in Kolkata. The project is expected to cost Rs 3,000 crore and will include residential villas, multi-storied apartments, educational institutions, hospital, retail, commercial zones and a club house. With a total built up of more than 12 mn sq ft, the project will house over 6,000 families and spread over 250 acre at Kharguli Hills along the Brahmaputra in Guwahati CBD.

10.Bogibeel bridge´s girder cost up

The cost for constructing girders of India´s longest rail-cum-road bridge at Bogibeel over Brahmaputra in Assam, by a HCC-led consortium, is likely to escalate by over Rs 300 crore, mainly due to expansion and delay of the project.
