Moving ahead with its renewed power policy to set up thermal power plants in the private sector, the UP Government entered into an agreement with Bajaj Hindustan for setting up a 1980 MW thermal power plant at Bargarh in Chitrakoot.
Bajaj Hindustan has decided to pull out of the Rs 10,000 crore, 1,980 MW Bargad power project planned in Chitrakoot district, following the recent exit of Jaypee Group from the Rs 7,000 crore, 1,320 MW Karchhana project. Bajaj Hindusthan had signed the MoU with the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation in December 2010, but not even 10 out of the required 13,000 acre have been acquired so far.
Prominent religious spots in Madhya Pradesh are going to get budget hotels. The State government has decided to construct budget hotels at the state's prominent religious tourism destinations. The places where these budget hotels will come up include Amarkantak, Maheshwar, Ujjain, Omkareshwar, Chitrakoot, Orchha, Maihar, Panna, Mandla, Multai, Salkanpur and Mandleshwar.
