India’s largest power utility NTPC has signed a MoU with Hazipur-based East Central Railway Zone for transportation of fly-ash under the Indian Railways’ Special Freight Train Operator (SFTO) scheme. NTPC thus became the first entity in the country to sign an SFTO agreement with Indian Railways. The fly-ash will be transported by Bogey Tank For Alumina Powder (BTAP) rakes, which are leakproof wagons with special air fluidising system.
Giving a push to the Haryana Government's affordable housing policy, Signature Global, one of the key stakeholder of financial investment firm SMC Group, will invest Rs 950 crore in to develop 5,000 low-cost homes in Gurgaon. The company has completed allotment of 5,005 housing units in five projects through draw of lots of applicants.
Cement major ACC is planning to rope in franchise manufacturers to produce bricks from fly-ash by keeping in tune with its capacity expansion programme in the eastern region. According to the company its has already appointed one such franchise brick maker. Plans are afoot to appoint four more franchise manufacturers in West Bengal with a projected combined capacity of one lakh bricks a day. Similar exercise is expected in other eastern States.
