The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) hosted a major International Conference on Construction Materials and Systems as part of RILEM Annual Week. This event came to India for the first time in its 71-year history and was held from September 3-8, 2017.
The Union Cabinet has sanctioned a fund grant of Rs 7,002.42-crore to set up six more permanent Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campuses across the country, according to reports. They will be established at Tirupati, Dharwad, Goa, Bhilai, Palakkad, and Jammu.
Deviating from its original plan to resurface the 4.3 km-long arterial boulevard Nariman Point-Girgaum Chowpatty at Rs 36 crore, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is going to reconstruct it at a cost of Rs 150 crore. The Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-B) made a presentation on this proposal before the BMC last Friday. While presenting the 2012-13 financial outlay for the city, then civic commissioner Subodh Kumar had proposed resurfacing the road.
