The exit road from Mangaluru International Airport to the city has been recently inaugurated by the Karnataka Government. The process of constructing the 1.12-km-long exit road from the terminal building of Mangaluru airport began in 2013.
Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) at Kenjar presently has a runway, which is 8,000 ft long. Airports Authority of India (AAI), which operates MIA, wants to extend this by 11,600 ft, an addition of 3,600 ft in two phases - first phase by extending it to 10,000 ft and the remaining 1,600 thereafter.

The operation, management and development of Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram and Mangaluru airports are reportedly to be done through the Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee (PPPAC).
