The already delayed Navi Mumbai airport project is facing further delays because of land acquisition problems. For the past one year, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco), the project’s nodal agency, has been struggling to resolve the compensation issue related to the 291 hectares of private land that has to be acquired from farmers in 18 villages.
To sort out the land allotment issue being faced by the proposed Navi Mumbai airport project, the Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan will meet people displaced by the project in the next ten days. Officials of the State Urban Development Ministry confirmed the development. A meeting has taken place between Chavan, City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Bhatia and other government officials in this regard.
