The Orissa Government is hopeful of producing 427 MW more hydro power through mini units in the next five years following the hurdles in setting up a 320 MW Sindol hydro power project with the National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC).
The Cabinet has given a go ahead and has planned an investment of Rs 8,112.12 crore for National Hydroelectric Power Corporation´s (NHPC´s) Pakal Dul Hydroelectric project in Jammu & Kashmir. The project is expected to reduce power shortage in the northern region. This investment includes Interest During Construction (IDC) and Financing Charges (FC) of Rs 500.76 crore.
NHPC and Orissa Hydro Power Corporation and National Hydro Power Corporation will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the end of December this year to forge a joint venture to develop 12 hydel projects in Orissa.
