MahaMumbai special economic zone (SEZ) in Raigad has been suspended indefinitely by Mumbai SEZ Ltd as the company is not able to acquire a minimum of 1,000 hectare of contiguous land as mandated by the SEZ Act.
Reliance Industries has one more year to acquire land for the proposed Mumbai SEZ project near Raigad. The Board of Approval (BOA), set up under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, gave it a year's extension.
In Maharashtra, JSW Ispat Steel is planning to buy Heidelberg Cement’s grinding unit for an undisclosed price. The company on May 21 approved a proposal for the acquisition of the cement grinding facility of Heidelberg Cement India at Dolvi in Raigad district of Maharashtra, adjacent to the company’s steel plant.
For an undisclosed amount, JSW Steel has acquired Heidelberg Cement India's cement grinding facility in Raigad of Maharashtra. The capacity of the facility is 0.6 million tonne per annum (mtpa). The two companies signed the Business Transfer Agreements for the acquisition on October 5.
