Mizoram’s capital Aizawl will reportedly be connected by a broad gauge rail line by 2021. The Centre had allocated `429.72 bn for the development of the state in the 14th Finance Commission and is now taking greater steps to promote infrastructure growth in the region.
The Indian Railways is looking for possible earnings of Rs.75 bn from three land parcels by monetising them as a part of the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) scheme. Prior to the TOD approval in Delhi, where the parcels are located, the railways expected to earn Rs.50 bn.

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), charged with the responsibility of monitoring infrastructure projects worth Rs 1.5 billion or more, has released a report for June 2019 according to which, out of a total 1,608 projects, more than 360 have shown cost overruns to the tune of Rs 3.88 trillion.
