In the last fiscal, the South Central Railways has achieved an eight per cent increase in freight loading due to increased movement of coal and fertilisers. The zone handled 111.5 million tonne of cargo during the year against 103.2 mt in the previous year.

4.SRC to completerailway projects

South Central Railway (SRC) in Hyderabad plans to complete the construction of 17 road overbridges (RoB) or underbridges (RuB) during the current financial year. While work on four RoB or RuBs have already been completed, works at 13 other locations are in progress. The Vijayawada Division of the South Central Railway (SCR) has successfully introduced energy conservation measures by replacing all the existing fluorescent bulbs with LED lights at various stations in the division. This replacement has saved a sum of Rs 131.15 lakh per annum for the division.


9.Centre okays Rs 23.62 bn for ongoing railway projects in Andhra Pradesh

The ongoing projects under South Central Railway (SCR) in Andhra Pradesh has reportedly received fund allocation from the Centre. The Centre has sanctioned Rs 59.24 billion for SCR this year.
