Tata Steel and Australian company Riversdale Mining are planning an investment of Rs 1,279 crore to undertake the initial phase-one development of the Benga Coal project in Tete province of Mozambique.

The Jharkhand Government has shut down 12 iron ore mines in the state, a decision expected to impact the country´s steel production exorbitantly. Among those affected by the directive are Tata Steel, SAIL and Orissa Manganese and Minerals. The shut down was prompted by mines working without renewing their licences.
