4.KSCC to build road at Rs 97-cr to ease traffic in Kochi

To ease traffic congestion from Vallarpadam to NH 17 at Paravoor, Kochi, the Kerala State Construction Corporation (KSCC) will construct a road from Chathanad-Moolampilly at Rs Rs 97-crore. The general council of Goshree Islands Development Authority (GIDA) held in Kochi on February 12 decided to this extent. It is to entrust the road construction. GIDA had earlier planned to give the project to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

5.Chennai to have 45-km elevated road to ease traffic jams

To ease traffic congestion in Chennai, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on April 1 announced a slew of road projects, including an elevated road between Taramani and Mamallapuram. The elevated road is to ease traffic congestion caused by the proliferation of IT companies, educational institutions and skyscrapers.

6.Flyover in Bangalore's Banaswadi to be widened

In Bangalore, to tackle the traffic congestion on one of the major roads in Banasawadi, East Bengaluru, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) is mulling over the construction of flyovers parallel to the existing one. The Corporation is also planning to provide one extra lane to the flyover loop which connects Byappanahalli to the Banasawadi flyover.

7.Jaipur to have two high-level bridges to cut congestion

To reduce congestion and provide better connectivity, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has expedited the process to start the construction work of two high-level bridges in the city. These high-level bridges will be constructed between Gopalpura to Mansarovar and Swej Farm to Sodala. A senior official said that the demarcation work near Swej Farm has been started by the authority at zone level, while, a consultant has been appointed to prepare the design for Gopalpura.

8.Widening of road to Kochi airport in progress

In a bid to solve the road congestion enroute Nedumbassery airport, the Cochin International Airport (CIAL) has begun widening of the two-lane road from Athani to the international airport in Kochi. If all goes well, the road widening work will be completed within a year. The existing two-lane road will pave way for a four-lane National Highway thus helping to decongest the road.

LalaLajpatRai Road, the critical link between the southern and central part of Delhi, may witness major congestion in September when the Public Works Department (PWD) of Delhi government begins repair and rehabilitation work on the Defence Colony flyover at an estimated cost of Rs 3.81 crore.
