Under the Smart City mission, Shimoga has about 74 projects worth Rs 11.84 billion, which are under various stages of project preparation or execution or tendering, says Charulata Somal, Managing Director, Shivamogga Smart City Corporation, and Commissioner, Shimoga City Corporation.
All the member count-ries of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project would take a decision on the consortium leader and investors in consultation with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in a year’s time. The work on network is expected to start in 2015. Turkmenistan’s South Yolotan-Osman gas-field is the source for the TAPI pipeline.

Central Electricity Authority (CEA) of India has suggested that power projects coming up within a distance of 50 km from an existing or proposed gas pipeline should prequalify under the projects for gas linkage during the 12th Plan.
Gujarat State Petronet (GSPL) has received authorisation from the gas regulator Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) to lay 4,000 km long pipelines on three routes at an investment of Rs 12,500 crore.
