In order to prevent delay in key development projects because of land acquisition issues, the state government plans to introduce an infrastructure act. The proposed act envisages setting up of a single agency for clearing land acquisition. The act would not trample upon people’s rights.
Citing issues relating to construction, design and the rehabilitation of project-affected people, MMRDA has reportedly delayed the launch of the first stretch (Phase-I) of the Mumbai monorail projectto August 2013. The first stretch of the Phase-I consists of a 9 km line between the Chembur and Wadala areas near Bombay Harbour, at a cost of Rs 2,900 crore. This is the third time that the actual launch of operations has been deferred.
A new road policy will be brought into effect in Bihar to tackle road maintenance issues, said the State government on March 5. The State government, at the same time, blamed the Centre for discriminating against the state in releasing funds for road projects.
