More than Rs.24.10 bn has been reportedly allotted towards railway infrastructure projects and safety works in 2019-2020 for Tamil Nadu. In total, 27 different projects worth Rs.188.55 bn are in different stages of planning, sanction and execution now in the state.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu laid the foundation stone for several projects in Gujarat. These projects include gauge conversion of Dhasa-Jetalsar section of Bhavnagar division of Western Railways, construction of 35 roads under bridges across Gujarat and infrastructure facilities for BCNHL wagons.

The Railway Ministry has allocated Rs 5,116 crore for projects in the northeastern region. Also the finance ministry has proposed an extra Rs 1,000 crore to build railway infrastructure in the North Eastern region. This sum is over and above the funds allocated in the Railway Budget.
